Now that’s what I call cooking the books!

The Ultimate Book of Vegan Cooking

Actually though it looks like I have a new book out it’s just a paperback version of the old one. Good timing for a reprint though World Vegan Day / One World Day – November 1st

Hi! I got given this book for a present and I cannot wait to try the recipes. Though, I have a question I cannot find the answer to. The nutritional information at the bottom of each recipe, is it per serving or for the whole recipe? There is no indication of serving size or number of servings, so I assumed the whole recipe. I thought they would be for the whole recipe, as a couple are 3378 and 2274, while the rest are low, but I thought I would double check. Thank you very much, and thank you for writing such a useful book!

    • The nut. info should be per portion – but it’s not impossible that there is a mistake as if that’s calories you are talking about then yes that’s a whole day of food not a portion. (We didn’t do Nut. Calcs. on this one or do final edit)- that sort of mistake is obvious to Yvonne as she is a nutritionist so would jump out of the page at her.

      What’s the recipes with 3378 and 2274?

By portion, do you mean what the recipe makes, or a part of what the recipe makes?

    Celebration cake – 3378kcal/14144kJ
    Gingerbread – 2274kcal/9594kJ

    Thank you.

    • By portion I mean EG If it says serves 2 then Nutrient Calcs based on half of recipe – 1 of 2 portions

Perhaps we didn’t give servings sizes for the cakes that’s why it’s per cake not per portion / serving – depends how big a piece you have !!! 😉

  3. NB We DEF don’t advise that you should eat a whole vegan cake, in one day, by yourself! 😉

I see! How embarrassing for me. They do give number of servings for cakes. And the ones with very high calories just say how much the whole thing makes. Thank you very much for clearing that up for me! 🙂
